Arran dyed wool
Our wool is mixed, mostly Shetland, Texel and Soay, and spun in small batches at Curlew Weavers, processed using only water rather than the standard acid treatment. We work with local Moray farmers and the natural dyes are sourced locally wherever possible. We are growing our own dye plants here at Naturally Useful.
Available colours will vary throughout the year according to the plants that are available for dyeing.
Wool is Arran weight, 4ply.
100g of wool is needed to make a man’s hat with 5mm needles or size needed to give the correct tension of 20sts and 28 rows to 10cm.
Weight of hanks are approx 100g. Length of hanks are approximately 100 meters.
